Thursday, May 29th

  • World Lindy Hop Day Canal Dance w/ Naptown Stomp

    • If you are arriving early for BHAII, Naptown Stomp is hosting a World Lindy Hop Day celebration on the scenic White River Canal at the Indiana State Museum! The event includes a lesson on the classic Shim Sham (6:30pm), a beginner Lindy Hop lesson (7:15-8pm), and DJ’ed music and social dancing (8-10pm). Free to attend!

Friday, May 30th

  • 6:00 - 7:00 pm - Event Welcome / Registration / DJ’ed music mixer

    • As you arrive, get to know other event attendees with a fun scavenger hunt/bingo game. We’ll also have tables where you can chat with others with similar interests.

  • 7:00 - 8:00 pm - Beginner lesson w/ Naptown Stomp instructors

  • 8:00 - 10:30 pm - Main dance with Chelsea Hughey’s Big Swing Face Band!

    • What to wear: Rep Your Colors! Wear your home scene colors, favorite hometown sports team colors, or just rock your favorite colors.

  • 11:00 pm - 3:00 am- DJ’ed late night dance (at Latin Expressions Dance Studio)

Saturday, May 31st

  • 9:30 - 10:00 am - Welcome / Registration / DJ’ed music

  • 10:00 - 11:30 am - 2 Concurrent Classes

    • All classes are electives/all levels

    • Main Hall: ABC - Always Be Connecting w/ Doug & Val. Connection is a term used everywhere, and rightfully so! We'll focus on enhancing your social dance experience through connection with your partner, yourself, and the music.

    • Downstairs Gallery: Voices in Motion: Musicality & Personal Style w/ Shannon & Mark. Discover your unique voice while learning to appreciate the individuality of others. We’ll focus on deepening your connection to the music through rhythm, movement, and improvisation, while encouraging you to explore and express your personal style and appreciate the diverse styles of others.

  • 11:30 am - 12:00 pm - Break w/ DJ’ed music

  • 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Panel / Community Discussion

    • Lunch provided! On the menu: Sandwiches, chips, fruit, cookies

    • Panel 1: Open Arms, Open Floor: Building an Inclusive Lindy Hop Community. Creating a vibrant, welcoming dance community takes more than great music and high-quality instruction - it takes intention, empathy, and follow-through. In this panel, we’ll explore how local lindy hop scenes can better support new dancers, nurture lasting connections, and build spaces where everyone - no matter who they are - feels seen and valued.

  • 1:30 - 2:00 pm - Break w/ DJ’ed music

    • Queer Meetup (Upstairs Meeting Room): Join Madeline and Richelle for a Queer Meetup! This is an opportunity to meet and socialize with other queer dancers. Snacks will be available along with supplies for a small self-care craft to make together or take and make on your own. (Have an idea for a meetup you’d like to lead at BHAII? Contact us. Meetups are coordinated by event attendees.)

  • 2:00 - 3:30 pm - 2 Concurrent Classes

    • All classes are electives/all levels

    • Main Hall: Jumpstart your Jam w/ Doug & Val. Jam circles are integral to the culture of lindy hop - a space to show off and show up for your fellow dancers! Learn the history and etiquette of the jam, and practice both getting into and being an enthusiastic member of the circle.

    • Downstairs Gallery: Learn The Madison! w/ Shannon. Learn the classic 1950s line dance that is said to have originated in Columbus, OH and swept social clubs across the U.S. Shannon will guide you through the Madison’s signature moves while sharing its rich history, regional variations, and lasting influence on dances like Lindy Hop.

  • 3:30 - 4:00 pm - Break: Mobility & Flexibility for Dancers w/ Danny Beyrer

  • 4:00 - 5:00 pm - Open practice time with DJ’ed music

    • At least one instructor will be available for questions and feedback!

  • 5:00 - 7:00 pm - Community dinners

  • 7:00 - 8:00 pm - Beginner/Intermediate Lesson w/ Naptown Stomp Instructors

  • 8:00 - 10:30 pm - Main dance with Chelsea Hughey’s Big Swing Face Band!

    • What to wear: Your favorite dance outfit - the one that makes you feel most like you!

    • Band break: Group performance of The Madison & fun and friendly mystery competition!

  • 11:00 pm - 3:00 am - DJ’ed music late night dance (at Latin Expressions Dance Studio)

Sunday, June 1st

  • 9:30 am - Welcome / Registration

  • 10:00 - 11:30 am - 2 Concurrent Classes

    • All classes are electives/all levels

    • Main Hall: Dancing Solo Together w/ Doug & Val. You don't have to be all alone to dance solo jazz! We'll cover some solo steps then explore ways to turn those into a conversation and find inspiration in one another.

    • Downstairs Gallery: Roots & Rhythms of West Africa w/ Ronne Stone. This class explores traditional songs, rhythms, and movements from across West Africa. Experience the power of cultural storytelling and connection through dynamic, rhythmic movement.

  • 11:30 am - 12:00 pm - Break w/ DJ’ed music

  • 12:00 - 1:30 pm - Panel / Community Discussion

    • Lunch provided! On the menu: Wraps, chips, fruit, cookies

    • Panel 2: Behind Our Scenes: The Work of Growing and Sustaining Lindy Hop Dance Scenes. What keeps a lindy hop scene thriving year after year? This panel dives into the nuts and bolts of building strong, sustainable dance communities - from organizing events and navigating challenges to inspiring collaboration and growth. Hear from experienced scene leaders about what works, what doesn’t, and how we can support one another across cities and regions.

  • 1:30 - 2:00 pm - Break: Mobility & Flexibility for Dancers w/ Danny Beyrer

  • 2:00 - 4:00 pm - DJ’ed music afternoon dance

    • What to wear: Wear a t-shirt from your favorite dance event, or just rock your favorite t-shirt.

  • 4:30 pm - ?? - After party!! (Location to be given at event)
