DJ and Emcee Team
Traveling DJ’s
Naomi Carmeli-Shabtay
Naomi Carmeli-Shabtay began dancing lindy hop and blues in 2014, and got behind the DJ booth in 2018. Since then she has DJ’d at events around the Midwest from Milwaukee to St. Louis, and appears regularly at dances in Chicago. At live music events Naomi’s been known to say “I love this song!!” roughly every other song. It’s always true, and as a DJ she strives to elicit the same response from the dance floor. Naomi has a love for vocals, guitar, and pulling out an oddball song or two that you might just fall in love with.

Maurice has a goofy, yet clear, communication style and unique voice that they love to share through DJ’ing, laughs, and care for the dances they are so gracious to teach. Minneapolis, MN
Alina (they/them, hu/hus) started listening to jazz as a child when they heard it on the record player in their grandfather's garage. Hu has been hooked ever since, often jamming with their friends downtown and DJing at dance events across California. Alina highlights Black artists in their sets, and they are partial to music with a playful piano and a strong beat. Photo credit: Mila Moore Photography.

Rachel Kreher
Rachel (she/her) fell in love with swing dancing at her very first lesson in 2012, and has since spent countless weekends traveling to learn, compete, and meet new friends from all over the country. Best described as an exuberant, enthusiastic teacher, Rachel loves to share her passion for dance with anyone willing to learn. The joy she gets from dancing is infectious - you won't make it through a song without a smile on your face! As a DJ, she loves to play the jump blues tunes of her St. Louis hometown alongside her favorite Count Basie classics while highlighting the modern bands you can still see live at events. She puts her heart into the best late night vibes, whether that's keeping things grooving with early R&B or slowing things down for bluesy cool down at the end of the night. Wherever you see her -- you can count on Rachel to bring the energy to the floor!
Indianapolis, IN- Swing Era Steps
Nathan Bouman
Indianapolis, IN- Naptown Stomp and Swing Era Steps
Nathan Bouman has been DJing Lindy Hop dances for four years, and dancing for five! He loves to research, curate, and play themed DJ sets, with some previous favorite set themes including: "songs about rain," "patriotic songs," "songs in 40 different foreign languages," and "songs featuring vibraphone." This year at BHAII, he will be bringing a set full of Indiana artists: mostly those with a connection to the Indiana Avenue jazz scene, but also some who were born and raised in Indiana. He would love to talk to you about Indiana swing jazz artists, or any other themed set ideas you may have!
Meet Our 2026 Emcee!
